Job summary

G-III Apparel Group in New York City is seeking an Assistant Designer – PLM to support Donna Karan and BCBG Suits. The role focuses on PLM maintenance, technical documentation, sample coordination, and cross-functional communication to ensure accurate product information.

You will collaborate with Design, Sales, Production, and Technical Design, manage design specifications and technical sheets, and assist with showroom samples and approvals for bulk production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Product Development, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 1–2 years of experience in apparel design, product development, or related experience.
• Experience working with PLM systems; Centric PLM experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of apparel product development, technical specifications, garment construction, and production processes.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Enter and maintain seasonal styles, trims, and product information in PLM for Donna Karan and BCBG Suits. Ensure purchased styles are accurately entered to support reporting, buy charts, and bulk production preparation. Support the implementation and ongoing use of Centric PLM by entering and validating design-phase data.
• Complete Design Specifications (DS) and Technical Sheets for purchase orders. Update and revise Design Specifications and Technical Sheets based on fittings, pre-fits, design revisions, and production requirements. Ensure technical documentation is accurate and complete prior to bulk production.
• Attend buy meetings to confirm trims, design changes, construction details, and product updates. Communicate design revisions and product updates to Sales, Production, and Technical Design. Request CAD print recolorations and support the Design team with sales callouts, design revisions, and seasonal updates.
• Request and coordinate showroom, Advertising, Public Relations, Press, and Corporate samples. Coordinate with external sample rooms to produce showroom, advertising, and presentation samples. Assist with preparing, organizing, steaming, and merchandising showroom samples for collection presentations.
• Partner with Production on special hangtags, callout labels, packaging, and other branding requirements. Maintain approval charts tracking development and production approvals. Review and approve trims, zippers, threads, and other components for bulk production. Maintain organized approval records and product documentation.
• Assist with assigning style numbers and coordinating special product add-ons required for Sales and Merchandising. Ensure seasonal product information remains current, complete, and accessible for reporting and production planning. Support special projects and additional product development initiatives as assigned.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Designer to support the Donna Karan and BCBG Suits teams. This role will support the design and product development process through PLM maintenance, technical documentation, sample coordination, production approvals, and cross‑functional communication. The Assistant Designer – PLM will partner closely with Design, Sales, Production, Technical Design, and external vendors to ensure product information is accurate and maintained throughout the development process.
