Job summary

G-III Apparel Group is seeking an Assistant Designer for Halston Dresses in New York City. The role supports the Design Director and drives development from concept to samples in a fast-paced fashion environment.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in apparel design, proficiency in Illustrator/Photoshop, and strong organization. On-site in NYC with comprehensive benefits and a clear path to contribute to seasonal collections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or related field.
• 2+ years of apparel design or design support experience; women's dress experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong hand sketching, CAD, and presentation skills.
• Basic understanding of garment construction, fit, and the product development process.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the creation and maintenance of cost cards and seasonal development materials.
• Support the handoff of design development from the design team to Production for purchase order execution.
• Maintain and organize the sample room, coordinating with sample makers, cutters, and sewing teams.
• Track domestic and overseas samples to ensure timely delivery throughout the development calendar.
• Organize and maintain showroom samples to ensure presentation readiness.
• Maintain the seasonal swatch library by vendor, fabrication, and quality.
• Support CAD development in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, including preparing artwork and cleaning garment images for FileMaker and other internal systems.
• Assist with trend research, inspiration boards, and presentation materials for seasonal development.
• Partner with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, and Production teams to support daily workflow and ensure timely sample execution.
• Maintain strong organizational skills while managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join our Halston Dresses team.
