Job summary

Authentic Lifestyle Products LLC in New York is seeking a Design Assistant for Branded and Private Label Men’s Activewear/Athleisure/Outdoor. Initially freelance with potential to become full-time, approximately 5 days a week in our NYC office.

You will join the design team to develop from inspiration to prototypes, collaborating with the Creative Director and team on sketching, CAD design, technical specs, and sample management.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of menswear design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Design or related field.
• Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist all aspects of the design process from inspiration to prototype development.
• Generate collection inspiration and ideate new styles, silhouettes, and details.
• Create new versions of existing designs to provide options for sales.
• Support sketching, CAD, technical specs, presentation boards, meeting prep, and materials coordination.
• Work with production to organize files and support sample management.

Branded and Private Label Men’s Activewear/Athleisure/Outdoor Assistant Designer

Job Description

The position will start as freelance with the possibility of turning into a full time employee position. 5 days a week in office.

Primary Purpose:

The Design Assistant will work as a member of the Authentic Lifestyle Products Design team-based in New York. They will be involved in all aspects of the design and development of the product from collection inspiration to final prototype development. As a member of a dynamic creative team, you will have the opportunity to bring your love of fashion and passion for design. • Activewear/Athleisure/Outdoor Design/Surf Lifestyle Inspired
• Research to generate inspiration for the collection
• Ideate and design new styles, silhouettes, and product details, bringing a fresh perspective to the projects
• Create new versions of existing styles to create options for sales team
• Partner with the Creative Director and team to work on all aspects of the design process, including assistance with sketching, CAD design, technical specs, presentation boards, meeting preparation, raw materials coordination and sample management
• Work with the production team, by keeping files organized in branching original designs with final product/ purchased designs

The ideal candidate will possess:

• 2-4 years of experience in menswear design, preferably in Activewear/Athleisure/Outdoor/Surf Inspired
• Bachelor's degree in Design or Design related field preferred
• Advanced proficiency and experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Excel
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse group at all levels
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
