Job summary

Children's of Alabama Dental Clinic is seeking a part-time dental assistant to support a pediatric dentistry program. You will assist the dentist in four-handed dentistry, maintain patient records, and manage dental equipment and supplies in a teaching clinic environment on the Main Campus, Lowder Building.

Summary

Responsible for assisting dentist in the practice of four-handed dentistry.

Other Information

Knowledge of dental equipment, patient records, all dental x-ray equipment, logs, forms, appointment books, and records, and N20 and o2 equipment, autoclave and dryclave, equipment used in obtaining vital signs, O.R. dental instruments.

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:

Essential

• High School Diploma Graduate or Equivalent
• Training Certificate in Dental Hygiene

Nonessential

• 1 Year job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Dental Services

The Children's of Alabama Dental Clinic is a teaching clinic where, in association with the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, dentists receive training to become specialists in Pediatric Dentistry. This clinic provides comprehensive dental healthcare to children younger than age 15 and provides emergency dental services and dental treatment to children with special needs and/or physical challenges, as well as those who are medically compromised. All care is overseen by board-certified pediatric dentists on the faculty of the UAB Department of Pediatric Dentistry. The Department of Pediatric Dentistry's faculty also see private patients in the UAB Dental Group's Pediatric Faculty Practice. Services provided include oral hygiene care and education, dental restorations, extractions, pulp therapy, treatment of trauma, minimal oral sedation and dental treatment under general anesthesia. Emergency services are available through the emergency room for trauma emergencies after hours.

Schedule: 8-4:30, Day Shift, Monday-Friday Standard Days
