Job summary

Safeway is seeking an Assistant Food Service Manager to lead the La Carte Department. You will oversee daily operations, ensuring high standards for food safety, quality, and customer service. Lead a fast‑paced team, manage schedules, and train associates to deliver exceptional deli experiences.

You will drive merchandising, inventory control, and regulatory compliance while maintaining compelling displays and friendly service that keeps customers coming back.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service or deli leadership preferred.
• Ability to manage fast-paced, high‑volume operations.
• Strong focus on food safety, quality, and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily La Carte Department operations with focus on customer service and food quality.
• Create a fast, friendly environment and resolve customer questions and requests.
• Execute merchandising plans, planograms, promotional sets, and seasonal programs.
• Oversee preparation, slicing, cooking, packaging, and merchandising of La Carte items.
• Maintain appealing service cases and displays for grab‑and‑go and hot cases.
• Manage ordering, inventory, shrink, production logs, and waste reporting.
• Build and manage schedules aligned with sales and labor targets.
• Hire, train, coach, and develop La Carte associates; promote teamwork.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
