Job summary

University of Wisconsin–Madison invites applications for the Assistant Dean for Pre-Major Advising in the College of Computing & Artificial Intelligence. The role provides strategic leadership from recruitment through early major declaration, guiding CAI admissions and undergraduate experiences.

Reporting to Academic Affairs leadership, the appointee will supervise academic advisors, design first-year admissions strategies, and collaborate across campus with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5–7 years in student affairs or academic administration
• Minimum of 3 years leading staff and multiple teams
• Proven track record advancing student success initiatives
• Experience implementing academic or student affairs policy and procedures
• Strong collaboration across departments and units

Responsibilities

• Establishes priorities aligned with the college's strategic directives and supervises staff
• Facilitates relationships with stakeholders and gathers input to support recommendations
• Supports initiatives requiring senior leadership oversight and coordination
• Monitors assessment and continuous improvement of programs and services
• Serves on university review committees and represents the supervision area
• May supervise 2.0 FTE or more employees
