Job summary

gategroup in New York, NY is seeking an Assistant Cook to support the Head Cook by preparing and cooking a variety of food items according to established recipes for on-board service. You will follow food safety rules, monitor temperatures, help train junior staff, and coordinate with supervisors to keep production flowing during shifts.

This role requires teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced aviation catering environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Culinary degree and/or cook certification is preferred
• Work Experience: 2 years in the related field
• Recipe conversion experience is required to accommodate the kitchen’s daily production needs
• Experience with maintaining temperature logs for all food items prepared

Work Environment

Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise. Will work with cleaning solutions, people-safe chemicals and related equipment to thoroughly clean and sanitize food service equipment and facilities. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) pounds. Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours.
