Insero & Co. CPAs, LLP in Rochester, NY is seeking an Assistant Controller (Internal Title - CAS Senior Accountant/Supervisor) to lead client accounting services for nonprofit organizations.

This full-time or part-time role offers on-site and hybrid options, flexibility, and meaningful client work across a diverse nonprofit client base. You will build strong client relationships, supervise staff, and participate in month-end close, journal entries, and financial reporting.

Qualificações

• Associate's degree in Accounting required; a Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum of four years of accounting experience in nonprofit/not-for-profit or public accounting.
• Experience with bank reconciliations and month-end close is required.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, Intacct and Bill.com is strongly preferred.
• CPA or CMA is a plus but not required.

• Assist clients with their financial statement reporting processes including cash flow and disclosures.
• Assist and maintain clients' annual operating plan/budgets.
• Review of operational, financial, and technological processes to provide management with assessment of business risk, internal control, and overall effectiveness.

We are currently seeking accounting professionals who have nonprofit/ not for profit experience to be able to support that client group. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available. Depending on the specific client assignments, we offer a hybrid work model where one has the flexibility to work remotely some days, on-site at client locations and/or in our office - allowing for a balanced and adaptable work environment.

Location:Rochester, NY office Formost of our positions at Insero, one can work in the office every day or if you like, in a hybrid structure working up to 3 days from home.

Client Accounting Services:

Our Client Accounting Services Group has been around for over 20 years and is made up of dedicated personnel whose only assignments are supporting our client base. We are full-time CPAs, CMAs, Accountants and Business Managers. We understand the issues that Controllers and CFOs face every day – and our technology, experience and flexibility add real value. Accounting Consulting for us is not something that fills our downtime; it is our focus all year long. Our services range from bookkeeping to budgeting and forecasting. Our Client Accounting Services Team ensures our clients have the information and advice they require to run their business/organization.

Responsibilities: (would vary based on the specific client engagements that change during the year)

• Projectbased accounting work for various local clients.
• Dependingon engagement, you may assist with recording and posting journal entries,performing month close process (or setting up/reviewing), A/P, A/R, payroll,preparing bank reconciliations, etc.
• Abilityto prepare a full accrual, month end close.
• Ensuresan accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and financialinformation reporting.
• Analyzingthe general ledger process, identify, clean up and resolve irregularities thatoccur to ensure the financial statements.
• Communicatingreporting/compliance requirements with client internal departments, all the while providing quality service and maintaining satisfied clients.
• Assistingclients with their financial statement reporting processes including cash flowand disclosures.
• Assistingand maintaining clients' annual operating plan/budgets.
• Coordinatingaccounting efforts with external auditors, tax preparers, supervision of staff,and regular communications with owners and financial institutions.
• Reviewof operational, financial, and technological processes to provide managementwith assessment of business risk, internal control, and the overalleffectiveness and efficiency of the processes.
• Maybe involved with establishing or upgrading accounting ledgers or systems forclients.

Requirements

Associate's degree in Accounting is required, (Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred).A minimum offour plus years of accounting experience as an Accountant/Senior Accountantworking in a nonprofit / not for profit organization or working within a publicaccounting firm support those types of clients. Formal bank/accountreconciliation and month close experience is required.

Supervisory skills and strong accounting system experienceare a plus. Experience with QuickBooks Online, Intacct and Bill.com is stronglypreferred. Effective communication, relationship building and consulting skillsare necessary. The ideal candidate must be able to meet deadlines, beinitiative-taking and have solid multi-tasking skills. Possess stronganalytical skills and have solid business knowledge as it relates to operationsand procedures. CPA or CMA is a plus but not required.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $72,000 - $95,000annually. Please keep in mind that this range is base pay only and does notconsider other components that makeup the total rewards package for theposition such as eligibility to receive discretionary spot bonus incentives.This range is a reasonable estimate of the current salary range for thisposition. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors, including butnot limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and/or education andgeographic location. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at ornear the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions aredependent on the capabilities and experience of the candidate. Incentives, ifany, depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual andfirm performance.
