Job summary

HHM Talent is assisting a client in Wilmington, NC to fill an Assistant Controller position. The role requires 5–7 years of accounting management experience, CPA is desired, and hands-on oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting across multiple states. Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and strong GAAP knowledge are essential.

The ideal candidate will mentor staff, support tax filings, and collaborate with auditors in a fast-paced automotive F&I environment.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of accounting management experience in automotive F&I provider industry.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; Master's preferred; CPA desired.
• Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and GAAP reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Controller with applying accounting principles and preparing financial reports.
• Oversee daily accounting department operations including A/P, A/R, payroll, and journal entries.
• Involvement with reinsurance accounting, cession statements, and investment tax considerations.
• Mentor and manage investment accountants; support pricing, analysis, and reporting for sales.
• Coordinate with external auditors and CPA firms for audits and tax filings.
• Optimize accounting software; assist with onboarding and HR-related payroll/admin tasks.
