Job summary

CLA is hiring an Assistant Controller for our Client Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice in our Nashville office. You will work with a team to manage client accounting functions, provide advisory insights, and help deliver timely financial statements to clients.

You will consult on best practices, manage multiple client projects, and stay current with GAAP and industry standards. CLA emphasizes wellness and a culture that values diverse perspectives across the firm.

Qualifications

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in Professional Services or Real-estate is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required; related experience may substitute for degree.
• Proficiency in common accounting software listed above.

Responsibilities

• Perform Assistant Controller functions for client accounting services teams.
• Act as a consultant and advisor on accounting and finance engagements.
• Provide project management across multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and provide recommendations.
• Maintain knowledge of policies, regulations, and GAAP standards.

About the role:

CLA is looking to hire an Assistant Controller for our Client Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) Practice in our Nashville office. Our CAAS service helps our clients transform their business with a collaborative approach that allows them to seamlessly mitigate risk, overcome challenges, meet deadlines, and identify personnel to help them with their workforce needs.

As an Assistant Controller, you will:

• Perform Assistant Controller functions as part of the client’s accounting services team and manage these functions for your clients.
• Act as a consultant and advisor to your clients on best practices for accounting and finance-related engagements.
• Provide project management expertise by managing multiple clients, work, and deadlines.
• Prepare and analyze client financial statements and make recommendations.
• Foster and build opportunities for our clients, communities, and people.
• Become an industry professional and attend industry-leading events and training.
• Maintain knowledge of the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.

What you will need:

• 6 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience required.
• Experience in Professional Services or Real-estate is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP Proficiency in accounting software, e.g. QuickBooks, Intacct, Great Plains, Yardi, MRI, Timberline, Sage, Foundations, Xero, Peoplesoft #LI-EL1.
