Job summary

BOWA is seeking an Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller to join our finance team in McLean, VA. The role starts hands-on, learning the close process and Sage 300 CRE, then grows into leadership of the full accounting function including GL, AP, AR, Billing, and Payroll.

The position offers ownership potential and a clear path to Assistant Controller / Controller, with ESOP exposure as the company recently became ESOP-owned. CPA is a plus, licensure encouraged to pursue.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA license a plus but not required — licensure encouraged to apply.
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE (or similar project accounting software) ideal but not required.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, Claude Cowork, ChatGPT).

Responsibilities

• Own Month-End Close & Financial Reporting.
• Build Toward Team Leadership.
• Serve as Principal Accounting Contact for Division Leaders.
