Job summary

Magna Seating Columbus is seeking a seasoned accounting professional to join our finance team. You will oversee financial systems, records, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

The candidate will bring 5+ years of post-qualification experience in industrial accounting, with strong Excel skills and the ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams. A CMA/CGA/CA designation is preferred.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in business or accounting.
  • Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA) required or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in industrial accounting in manufacturing.
  • Experience in auto parts manufacturing is an asset.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office; strong math and data analysis skills.
  • Strong listening and communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain on-going evaluation of financial systems and procedures.
  • Complete accurate accounting records and timely management information.
  • Maintain cooperative relations with Magna Seating Columbus/Intier and Magna Finance functions.
  • Ensure favorable audit reports and continuous improvement in financial management.
  • Manage funds flow including cash, receivables, and payables; ensure timely reporting.

Candidates MUST have relevant manufacturing or automotive manufacturing experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • University degree or College Diploma in specialized occupational field (i.e. Business, Accounting).
  • Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA).
  • A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in industrial accounting in the manufacturing sector.
  • Experience in auto parts manufacturing is an asset.
  • Practical experience with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Good math skills and the ability to analyze data.
  • Strong listening and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and with a variable workload (flexible hours).
  • Ability to understand, anticipate and follow direction while exercising maturity of judgement.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with other team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact.
General Duties (these are not all-inclusive and may be modified at any time as deemed necessary)
  • Develop and maintains on-going evaluation of financial systems and procedures in compliance with generally accepted standards for financial control and corporate policies.
  • Complete, accurate and consistent accounting records.
  • Complete, accurate, timely, consistent and relevant management information.
  • Strong, cooperative relationship with Magna Seating Systems/Intier and Magna Finance functions.
  • Favorable audit reports.
  • Continuous improvement in financial management strength within the Finance Function and among Operations Managers.
  • Efficient and effective financial planning processes.
  • Effective management of funds flow including; cash, accounts receivable and collections, and accounts payable and disbursements.
  • Development and maintenance of MSC (Magna Seating Columbus) Business planning process.
  • Ensures complete, accurate, timely, and consistent recording and summarization of financial control and corporate policies.
  • Develop and ensure the proper maintenance of control systems to safeguard assets and to effectively monitor operations.
  • Participate in weekly IT meetings with Controller and IT team.
  • Participate, adhere and develop operating procedures as part of the company's ongoing implementation of ISO 14001/IATF 16949 activities.
  • Adheres to all MAFACT requirements
  • Abide by all AODA and C-TPAT procedures that apply to their position
  • Ensures all administrative duties are completed as required and that work is completed on time as scheduled, and is thorough, accurate and complete.
  • Conducts performance reviews informally or formally as required and ensures performance reviews are completed for all employees.
  • Other duties as required.
