Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking an Assistant Controller in Baldwin City, KS to manage complex accounting duties and provide authoritative financial insights for management. You will coordinate, prepare, and analyze general ledger information and reports, representing the Accounting Department as a key contact for accounting issues.

You will lead, coach, and develop department personnel, ensuring accurate financial statements, internal controls, and timely close processes across multi-state reporting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in financial management or accounting management.
• Proven ability to lead teams and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
• Lead month-end close, GL entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable activities and audits.
• Coach and develop department staff and collaborate with other departments.

Duties may include coordinating, preparing, and analyzing general ledger information and reports that provide summary information for management to use in making Dealership financial decisions. Represents the Accounting Department as a contact for accounting issues. Leads, coaches, and develops department personnel. Provides excellent customer service for employees as well as customers and vendors.Responsibilities:1. Prepares various daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports or statements2. Assists in month-end procedures, including account review, general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and analyzing general ledger information3. Examines accounting information contained in reports and exhibits, traces and reconciles unusual variances4. Performs and/or oversees complex account reconciliations5. Helps maintain an accurate general ledger6. Assists in overseeing customer accounts receivable activities, including collection efforts and helps maintain clean sub ledgers7. Assists in overseeing accounts payable activities to ensure accurate recording, accurate tax treatment, and helps maintain clean sub ledgers8. Assists in monthly multi-state sales and use tax reporting and return preparation.9. Works closely with employees throughout the organization in all departments to answer accounting questions and resolve issues.10. Assist in various audits, including annual financial statement, 401k, and insurance audits11. Helps manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position12.
