Job summary

6AM City, LLC is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to support heavy civil projects, including site development, earthwork, grading, underground utilities, and drainage systems.

You will collaborate with Construction Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors and field crews to plan, schedule, coordinate resources, and oversee day-to-day field operations to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• 8+ years construction experience in civil trades.
• Ability to read plans and perform material takeoffs / RFQ submissions.
• Experience in civil / concrete flat work, footings, walls, grading and underground utilities.
• Knowledge of storm water runoff management is a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and teamwork.
• Ability to forecast and manage project schedules.

Responsibilities

• Manage Supervisors and crew and conduct job walkthroughs with subcontractors and weekly progress meetings.
• Communicate project progress to Construction and Yard Managers.
• Ensure quality control standards on each project.
• Manage subcontractor schedules and deadlines.
• Provide project status updates and maintain documentation.
• Coordinate timely ordering of materials and equipment to avoid delays.

Heavy Civil construction

The Assistant Construction Manager supports the execution of heavy civil construction projects, including site development, earthwork, grading, underground utilities, concrete structures, drainage systems, and related infrastructure. Working closely with Construction Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and field crews, this role assists with project planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and day-to-day field operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on heavy civil construction experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate multiple project activities in a fast‑paced construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage Supervisors and crew:
• Attend and conduct Job walk throughs, subcontractor walk throughs, and weekly progress meetings;
• Effectively communicate project progress to Construction and Yard Managers
• Ensure quality control standards are met on each project;
• Manage subcontractor schedules;
• Provide project status and updates;
• Prepare project schedule and manage deadlines;
• Maintain project cleanliness and organization;
• Manage all project documentation.
• Coordinate and communicate timely ordering of material, rental equipment etc. to avoid project delays

Requirements

• Basic computer literacy (excel, word, outlook);
• Ability to read plans / drawings and perform material take offs / submit RFQ
• Ability to forecast and provide project schedule.
• Experience w/ Civil, concrete flat work, footings, walls, grading & underground utility distribution, installation experience a required);
• Knowledge of storm water run‑off management, clarification, treatment & ponds a plus.
• Steel structure experience a plus.
• AutoCAD experience a plus

• Knowledge of Industrial and or manufacturing construction a plus:
