Job summary

Hines is seeking an Assistant Community Manager - Multifamily to support the Community Manager in overseeing daily financial operations, lease administration, and resident relations at our Washington, DC property.

You will handle rent collections, deposits, and reconciliations; review resident ledgers; assist in evictions when required; coordinate with maintenance and vendors; and help deliver hospitality-focused service to residents while supporting owner communications.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited program.
  • Two+ years in property management or a related industry.
  • Experience with property management software; Entrada a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and work on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily financial operations including rent collection, deposits, reconciliations, and payable processing.
  • Review resident files and balances, address delinquencies, and enforce lease terms.
  • Assist in eviction procedures and represent the community in court when required.
  • Review vendor invoices for payment and reconcile work performed.
  • Process resident move-outs per lease terms.
  • Promote resident satisfaction and retention by responding to issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and on-site supervisor; support community tours and owner communications.

As an Assistant Community Manager - Multifamily with Hines, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Community Manager in overseeing and managing the financial and operational facets of the community by completing accounting and bookkeeping tasks, preparing monthly close-out and financial reports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Completes the daily transactions and tasks related to the financial operation of the community by collecting and posting rent, fees, and other payments, preparing daily bank deposits and reconciling bank accounts, preparing financial reports, and processing invoices and payables
  • Reviews resident files and accounting records, communicates with residents regarding outstanding balances, implements procedures for collecting on delinquencies, and enforces the lease to maximize revenue
  • Adheres to Hines’s established procedures related to evictions by following proper notice requirements, evicting residents, and representing the community as required in court hearings and eviction proceedings
  • Reviews and submits invoices from vendors, contractors, and service providers for payment by reconciling work performed or products purchased
  • Processes resident move-outs by reviewing lease terms and notice requirements
  • Promotes resident satisfaction and retention by responding to complaints, questions, and requests in a timely manner, and taking appropriate action to resolve and address service issues
  • Acts as the on-site supervisor in the absence of the community manager by organizing and delegating daily work, and coordinating maintenance and make-ready tasks with the maintenance supervisor
  • Assists in managing the client/owner relationship by meeting with the owners, conducting community tours, providing updates and information about the community’s performance, and responding to owner requests as needed
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited required.
  • Two or more years prior experience in property management or in a related industry preferred
  • Experience with property management software preferred; Entrada experience a plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of basic accounting practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Work indoors approximately 95% of the time and outdoors 5% of the time
  • Use olfactory, auditory, and visual senses to inspect building and detect emergency alarms
  • On occasion, perform physical inspections of the property which may include climbing up and down stairs or accessing restrictive openings
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
  • Though occurrences are rare, be accessible 24 hours a day in case of an emergency and perform on-site operations management during natural disasters
  • Transfer properties and work overtime as business needs deem appropriate
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Compensation: $31/hr - $39/hr + Bonus
