Alleghany County's Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney position seeks a licensed Virginia trial attorney to prosecute misdemeanor and felony cases in Alleghany County. The role offers exposure to preliminary hearings, bench trials, jury trials, motions hearings, and appeals, with opportunities to advise and train law enforcement agencies and engage in community events and mentoring students.

Position is available for a licensed Virginia trial attorney to prosecute all types of misdemeanor and felony criminal cases in a vertical prosecution office located in Alleghany County.
Applicants can expect to gain valuable trial experience handling preliminary hearings, bench trials, jury trials, motions hearings and appeals.
Additional responsibilities include advising and training multiple law enforcement agencies. Attorneys participate in various community events and speaking engagements throughout the Alleghany Highlands. We also host and mentor students from colleges and law schools located both within and beyond the Commonwealth of Virginia.
A thorough knowledge of the law, solid trial skills and a strong work ethic are essential. As an office of five attorneys with three legal assistants, we are looking for a team player to join our collegial workplace environment. Trial experience is preferred but not required.

Salary Range $80,000 - $87,707 per year.
