Qualifications

• Must hold a Missouri teaching or substitute certificate issued through DESE.
• Preferred previous coaching experience in assigned sport.
• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Assists in coaching participants to develop skills for excellence in the sport.
• Assists in planning and scheduling regular practice programs in season.
• Works with athletic director and Head Coach to schedule interscholastic contests.
• Recommends equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Maintains attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork.
• Oversees safety conditions of facilities during assigned sport.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanship; oversees penalties for breaches.
• Assists in organizing and supervising the total sports program.
• Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
• Complies with district rules, regulations, and policies.
• Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function.

Description: Assistant Coach or Sponsor for High School athletics or activities in the North Kansas City School District.

Job Goal: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

Qualifications

• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable

Salary

*Stipend amount to be determined pending CTTN negotiations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in the coaching of individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
• Assists in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
• Works closely with the athletic director and Head Coach in scheduling interscholastic contests.
• Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
• Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
• Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
• Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach's sport.
• Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Assists in organizing and supervising a total sports program.
• Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
• Complies with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
• Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Other duties as required or assigned.
