Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Assistant Coach, Sailing position located in Providence, Rhode Island. The role supports the Head Coach in all phases of the Coed & Women’s sailing programs, including recruiting, student‑athlete development, video analysis, coaching and administrative duties such as maintaining logs and compliance information.

Seasonal, intermittent, part‑time 11‑month position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Collegiate, professional, high school, or club coaching experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
  • Familiarity with ARMS and Teamworks or similar is preferred.
  • Commitment to the student-athlete and ability to coach and motivate.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Coach in all phases of the sailing program.
  • Assist with recruiting and student-athlete development.
  • Conduct video analysis for performance improvement.
  • Handle administrative duties and compliance logs.
  • Maintain professional conduct and serve as a role model for student‑athletes.

Assistant Coach, Sailing

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the Assistant Coach, Sailing position located in Providence, Rhode Island. The role will support the Head Coach in all phases of the Coed & Women’s sailing programs, including recruiting, student‑athlete development, video analysis, coaching, and administrative duties such as maintaining logs and other compliance information.

Seasonal/intermittent, part‑time 11‑month position. The assistant coach will maintain professional conduct, positive sportsmanship, and act as a role model for the student‑athletes. Candidates must demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills and work effectively with staff, faculty, and other members of the university.

Education and Experience
  • Back‑ground: Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Coaching experience: Collegiate, professional, high school, or club sports coaching experience, preferred.
Job Competencies
  • Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League rules.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students.
  • Excellent sport‑specific technical, tactical and strategic knowledge.
  • Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, internet and email capabilities.
  • Social media experience, helpful.
  • Familiarity with ARMS and Teamworks or similar, preferred.
  • Prior experience with video editing software, helpful.
  • Commitment to the student‑athlete, passion for the game and ability to coach and motivate.

Candidate will be required to complete a criminal background, education and DMV check satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment. All coaching positions must receive annual NCAA recruiting education and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification.
