Job summary

Clemson University in Clemson, SC is seeking a Rowing Coach to teach and coach current student-athletes, recruit prospective student-athletes, and assist in program management. The role includes travel for practices and competitions and collaboration with staff to ensure compliance and success.

Responsibilities

  • Coach practice sessions, workouts and regattas.
  • Teach fundamentals and race strategies for intercollegiate rowing.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with sports medicine policies.
  • Attend preparatory meetings and help design race plans.
  • Recruit prospective student-athletes and maintain relationships with high school/club coaches.
  • Collaborate with Head Coach and Compliance on recruiting evaluations and travel.

JOB SUMMARY
  • - Teaches and coaches current student-athletes and recruits prospective student-athletes in the sport of Rowing.
  • - Assists the Head Coach in the management of the overall program.
  • - Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES
15% - Recruiting
  • Recruiting Identifies and recruits quality student athletes who have a reasonable opportunity for success both academically and athletically at Clemson
  • Works with Recruiting Coordinator to assist in recruiting needs
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as to attend practices and competitions of prospective student athletes
  • Develops and maintains relationships with high school and club coaches
  • Maintains well developed organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Collaborates with the Head Coach and Compliance Services with respect to recruiting evaluations communications and travel
  • Submits appropriate pre and post OV paperwork
60% - Coaching
  • Coaches practice sessions workouts and regattas
  • Teaches student athletes the fundamentals and strategies required to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics
  • Teaches student athletes the rules of competition
  • Teaches student athletes to safely compete and ensures compliance with sports medicine policies
  • Instructs student athletes regarding team concepts
  • Attends preparatory meetings and assists in designing and developing practice and race plans
  • Stays abreast of sport techniques strategies rules and skills
  • Works directly with student athletes
  • Effectively communicates strategies objectives techniques and concepts to team members
  • Performs other necessary instructional and coaching duties
  • Meets with student athletes to discuss goals performance school video review etc
5% - Leadership Support
  • Assists the Director of Ops in team travel logistics and Home Game management
20% - Community Service Engagement and Career Development
  • Community Service Engagement and Career Development Liaison
  • Coordinates with the Athletic Department and team on different community service projects
  • Promotes the attendance and engagement of different events throughout the year
  • Acts as a Liaison with the Athletics Department on career resources, internship opportunities, etc.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range - Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
