Job summary

Qualifications

  • Plan and execute sport camps and coordinate visiting team requests.
  • Work with former athletes and alumni relations, maintain stats.
  • Supervise student managers and other staff; represent head coach at events.
  • Assist with booster clubs and fundraising; manage media responses.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division I and Big Ten Conference institution, is seeking an Assistant Coach for Diving. The role assists in all aspects of the recruiting process, mentors student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth, and supports the head coach in a variety of athletic and administrative duties.


RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Coordinate the recruitment and retention of prospective student-athletes, including prospect evaluation, selection, off‑campus and on‑campus visits, and contacts.

  • Assist with mentoring student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth and help enforce team policies.

  • Gather, prepare, and present scouting materials.

  • Assist with the organization and planning for home events, practice planning, skill development, and game‑day strategy.

  • Assist with team travel planning, purchasing, inventory, and equipment care.

  • Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of sport camps.

  • Coordinate visiting team requests, such as practice, hotel accommodations, and meals.

  • Assist with former athlete and alumni relations.

  • Assist with the compilation and maintenance of statistical information.

  • Supervise student managers, volunteer coaches, undergraduate coaches, and other ancillary personnel as required.

  • Represent the head coach at intercollegiate athletics, alumni, and university events when required.

  • Assist with oversight and management of booster clubs and team/athletic fundraising efforts.

  • Assist with management and response to media requests.

  • Adhere to university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.


QUALIFICATIONS

Requires two years of Division 1 related coaching experience.


EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree (degree varies by sport) or an equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted. Required certifications: None.


BACKGROUND CHECKS & CLEARANCES

Position requires PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. A successful credit history check and motor‑vehicle records check are also required.
