Responsibilities

• Supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote growth and sportsmanship
• Prepare field/courts on Game Day and support logistics as directed by the Head Coach
• Use instructional techniques to meet student-athletes' needs and improve abilities
• Assess players' skills and progress
• Support game strategy as determined by the Head Coach
• Enforce student discipline during contests, practices, and trips
• Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation
• Protect student-athletes, equipment, and facilities from hazards
• Maintain and secure all equipment and uniforms
• Represent the district and program professionally
• Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities

COMPENSATION:

• Coaching stipend per Collective Bargaining Agreement for current employees
• Coaching stipend of $4,476 per season for walk-on coaches

DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the Principal or their designee, responsible for coaching assisting a Varsity team, supporting development of lower level teams, and performing related duties as required. For the 2026-2027school year, note the following:

• Support Head Coach in development of multiple levels
• Responsible for supervision of players

MINIMUMQUALIFICATION(S):

• Experience playing or coaching the sport in which applying for
• Ability to explain, demonstrate, and analyze fundamental skills and strategies
• Ability to meet all CIF Coaching requirements and certifications
• Ability to communicate with and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders
• Knowledge of CIF Rules and Regulations pertaining to the sport applying

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION(S):

• At least two years of experience as a varsity coach at the high school, college, or professional level in the sport applying for
• Experience as a college or professional athlete
• Demonstrated success with the development of a team with high academic achievement

Job Summary:

The Assistant Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in supervision and preparation of players in the program. Assistant Coaches are required to follow the game plan and expectations set by the Head Coach and support the aspects of the program as assigned by the Head Coach. Assistant Coaches must abide by rules and regulations set forth by the CIF and by Centinela Valley Union High School District, as well as the athletic administration.

• Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all athletic equipment.
• Represent the Centinela Valley Union High School District and program in a professional manner.
• Maintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.

Knowledge:

• Comprehensive knowledge of the game is paramount. Extensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of NFHS and CIF rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes.

• The applicant must possess the ability to communicate in spoken and written word.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• The applicant must possess the ability to relate to students and to teach them on and off the field.
