Job summary

Punahou School is actively recruiting an Assistant Coach for the Boys JV Volleyball team. The Assistant Coach helps organize practices, motivates student athletes, and teaches game strategies within the athletic program.

The ideal candidate will have coaching experience in an educational setting, strong communication and organizational skills, and a positive track record. This is a 3-month, on-site position with a stipend range commensurate with qualifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor's degree preferred).
• One year plus of positive leadership experience coaching in interscholastic athletics or related activity.
• Teaching background and experience working with adolescents preferred.
• Knowledge of athletics' value at middle/high school level and ability to develop practice plans and teach game strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with organizing team practices and competitions.
• Motivate student athletes and instruct game strategies and techniques.
• Assist with offense/defense planning and in-season/off-season program development.
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff.

Punahou School is actively recruiting an Assistant Coach for the Boys JV Volleyball Team. The Assistant Coach position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the needs of the sport within the Athletic Program. This position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques. The ideal candidate will have previous experience coaching a Volleyball team in an educational setting, good communication and organizational skills, physical ability to demonstrate positions usual to the sport, and a positive and effective track record of coaching performance.

Position Details

• Work Year: 3 Months
• School Year: 2026-2027, Spring Season
• Work Hours: Monday - Friday late afternoons, and weekends
• Stipend Range*: $1,560 - $3,450 - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• One (1) year of positive and effective experience with a track record of leadership in a successful interscholastic program as a coach, or other related athletic experience.
• Background in teaching preferred, with experience working with adolescents.
• Knowledge of the value of athletics and competition at the intermediate and high school level.
• Substantial knowledge of the game as demonstrated through the development of comprehensive practice plans, offensive and defensive schemes, implementation of off-season expectations for student athletes, and the implementation of effective and contemporary teaching/coaching practices.
