Punahou School invites applications for an Assistant Coach for the Boys/Girls Swim Team. The role supports the head coach in organizing the program, conducting practices, motivating students, and teaching game strategies.

The ideal candidate has prior coaching experience in an educational setting and strong communication skills. The position runs for 3 months during the 2026-2027 winter season, with afternoons, weekdays and weekend hours.

Qualifikationen

• Minimum Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• One (1) year of positive leadership experience as a coach in an interscholastic program or related athletic experience.
• Background in teaching preferred, with experience working with adolescents.
• Knowledge of athletics’ value and competition at the middle/high school level.
• Substantial knowledge of the game demonstrated through practice plans and coherent coaching strategies.

Punahou Athletics plays an integral role in the student experience. The coaching staff at Punahou School plays a significant role in the success of its Athletics program and the education of our students.

Punahou School is actively recruiting an Assistant Coach for the Boys/Girls (all levels) Swim Team. The Assistant Coach position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the needs of the sport within the Athletic Program. This position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques. The ideal candidate will have previous experience coaching a Swim team in an educational setting, good communication and organizational skills, physical ability to demonstrate positions usual to the sport, and a positive and effective track record of coaching performance.

Position Details:

• Work Year: 3 Months
• School Year: 2026-2027, Winter Season
• Work Hours: Monday – Friday late afternoons, and weekends
• Stipend Range*: $1,560 – $3,450 – Compensation is commensurate with qualifications

• Substantial knowledge of the game as demonstrated through the development of comprehensive practice plans, offensive and defensive schemes, implementation of off-season expectations for student athletes, and the implementation of effective and contemporary teaching/coaching practices.
