Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools seeks an Assistant Coach for Phillips Middle School to lead youth athletics activities. The role involves coaching, developing players' skills, and promoting sportsmanship within school programs.
You will work under the athletic director and in collaboration with the principal to uphold program objectives and ensure safe, positive experiences for student athletes.

Reports To: The athletic director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation inconjunction with the principal.
Job Goal: To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical trainingnecessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the sametime, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to sociallyacceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride ofaccomplishment in the student athletes.
Performance Responsibilities: Has a thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools' Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation.Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances throughproper channels.
General The success of athletic programs has a strong influence on the community'simage of the entire system. The public exposure is a considerableresponsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance istaxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and goodmental health. The position includes other unusual aspect such as extended time, risk injuryfactor and due process predicaments. It is the express intent of this job description to give sufficient guidance tofunction. In cases not specifically covered, it shall be assumed that a coachshall exercise common sense and good judgment.
Student Responsibilities Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletesthe character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.By his/her presence at all practices games and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance, andsafeguards for each participant.
