Job summary

The City of San Angelo seeks an Assistant City Attorney to plan, coordinate, and perform a variety of professional legal functions on behalf of the City of San Angelo; provide legal advice to City departments and officials; conduct legal research and analysis; prepare a variety of legal documents; represent the City in litigation and/or other legal matters; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (ABA-accredited) with at least two years in municipal law or litigation.
• License to practice law in Texas; active status with the Texas Bar.
• Valid Texas Driver's License; driving record if out-of-state license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to City officials and departments on contracts, leases, and litigation.
• Represent the City in litigation, mediations, and municipal court proceedings.
• Draft ordinances, resolutions, contracts, and real estate documents.
• Perform legal research and prepare litigation documents including briefs and discovery responses.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and city staff; supervise legal support staff as needed.
