Job summary

Wisconsin Broadcasters Association seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to help run the Engineering Department's daily operations and maintain broadcast technology across the station and transmitter sites.

The role supports the Chief Engineer in deploying new technologies, managing capital projects within budget, and ensuring FCC and other regulatory compliance. Strong IT/networking skills, three years in broadcasting, and excellent English communication are required.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Electronics, Communications, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred
  • Minimum three years' experience with a television broadcasting environment
  • Have an IT/Networking support background
  • Familiarity with Bitcentral-related software/hardware products a plus
  • Fluency in English; strong communication, both verbal and written
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work extended hours, as needed

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing all aspects of the Engineering Department
  • Maintain all broadcast technology and equipment for the station and transmitter sites
  • Ensure station compliance with FCC, local, state, and federal laws
  • Work closely with Chief Engineer to implement new technologies and technical infrastructure
  • Assist with managing engineering and technology capital projects to established budgets
  • Manage and coordinate fiber connectivity, production setups, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, networking systems, graphics systems and editing systems
  • Evaluate, select, install, service and maintain station equipment and information technology systems
  • Repair and maintain station building infrastructures
  • Assist in maintaining station vehicle fleet, including live satellite truck
  • Communicate with and coordinate equipment maintenance and training with vendors/contractors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job description
