Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Chief Building Engineer to monitor complex building system operations across plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling, and more. You will support preventive maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and systems within the Engineering and Technical Services function.

You will assign work orders, oversee contractors, ensure code compliance, and drive energy management to optimize system efficiency while aligning with CBRE RISE values.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work orders and estimate time/materials for repairs; maintain inventory of supplies and tools.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire life safety, and control systems; keep building systems up to standards.
  • Comply with codes, regulations, and safety directives related to building operations.
  • Develop an energy management program; ensure systems operate efficiently.
  • Oversee and inspect work by outside contractors; respond to inquiries from clients, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Direct preventive maintenance programs to meet/exceed rated life; perform repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Review inspections of building systems (fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing) for design capabilities and environmental conditions.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to develop new methods for achieving objectives.
  • Showcase expertise and knowledge of other disciplines within the organization.
  • Coach others to develop expertise across functions.
  • Lead by example and model CBRE RISE values; persuade stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Impact customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi-discipline teams.
  • Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and operational plans.
  • Communicate difficult ideas effectively to influence others.

About the Role:

As a CBRE Asst Chief Building Engineer, you will be responsible for monitoring complex building system operations and the performance of various areas including plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

What You’ll Do:
  • Assign work orders and estimate the time and materials needed to complete repairs. Maintain an inventory of adequate supplies and tools.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems. Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Develop an energy management program. Ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
  • Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisors.
  • Direct the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Review and sign off on inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure the operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
  • Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
  • Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.
