Overview

Pay: $21.00 - $27.00 Hourly

Summary: The Assistant Logistics Coordinator will support our logistics team in tracking and managing railcars and barges. This role will focus on tracking shipments, billing railcar usage, and gathering transportation rates for both rail and barge services.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and tracking the movement of railcars and/or barges, ensuring timely and efficient transit
  • Assisting in the preparation and processing of billing for railcar services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Gathering and analyzing rate information for rail and barge services to assist in cost management and logistics planning
  • Communicating with railroads, barge operators, and internal teams to maintain accurate and up-to-date records
  • Addressing and resolving any discrepancies in shipment tracking, billing, or rates
  • Adhere to and champion Ozinga’s values of Service, Learning, and Entrepreneurship
  • Participation in company safety program
Global Responsibilities
  • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position

Qualifications
Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, or a related field preferred
Experience
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in rail logistics, transportation management, or a related field preferred
  • Familiarity with rail and barge logistics, shipping processes, and billing practices is a plus
  • Prior experience in rail logistics or transportation management is a plus
Skills/Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn logistics software or tracking systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with internal teams, customers, and external partners
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in tracking shipments and handling billing
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to billing, tracking discrepancies, and logistics coordination
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate with various teams while maintaining a proactive and solution-oriented approach
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Physical Requirements
