Job summary

Prime, Inc. is seeking a hard-working cafe associate to join our team in Pittston, PA. The role supports cafe operations on the cook line, kitchen, and at the cash register, delivering timely meals and exceptional service.

Responsibilities include preparing a variety of foods, serving salads and hot dishes, maintaining cleanliness, assisting with inventory, and supervising fellow staff. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work Tue-Sat 2:30pm–10:30pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• Industrial kitchen or line cook experience preferred; management experience is a plus.
• Must be able to lift 45 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Flexible schedule with nights and weekends required.
• Strong work history and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Prime, Inc. is looking for a hard-working, customer-oriented associate to join our Cafe team. Responsibilities of this position will include:

• Providing lightly seasoned, nutritionally adequate and varied diet for driving and non-driving associates.
• Performing cooking duties with other workers.
• Serving salads, vegetables, meat, and breads as indicated by customers.
• Carrying pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator.
• Scrubbing and polishing counters, steam-ables, and other equipment.
• Cleaning work area, equipment, and utensils.
• Segregating and removing garbage, and steam cleaning or hosing garbage containers.
• Replenishing foods at serving stations.
• Brewing coffee and tea, and maintaining functionality of soft drink, ice, and water fountain.
• Carving meat.
• Totaling check and accepting payment for food if applicable.
• Wiping tables and seats with dampened cloth if applicable.
• Transporting trash and waste to disposal area.
• Supervises and participates in daily operations of café on the cook line, in the kitchen, and at the cash register.
• Makes recommendations and decisions regarding overall operation of the café.
• Follows established procedures for cleanliness and food preparation and ensures that food service work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner an in accordance with government and company standards.
• Seeks to maximize revenue opportunities and minimize costs.
• Delivers exceptional service to all customers including non-driving and driving associates.
• Ensures all associates are aware of their responsibilities and are given supervision and motivation on all aspects of their work.
• Develops a team of associates that take pride in their job and take ownership of their work.
• Orients and trains staff in proper work practices during their shift.
• Assures that all associates are following Prime and Café policies, addresses infractions and reports to the Café supervisor.
• Assures that meals are prepared and delivered on time and in acceptable quantity and quality.
• Inventories supplies and equipment.
• Candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs; pushing and pulling is minimal.
• Must be able to drive to second location to deliver cafe supplies.

Shift needed:

Full time position

Tuesday - Saturday 2:30pm - 10:30pm

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge

Industrial kitchen or line cookexperienceis preferred. Management experience is also a plus.

Abilities

Must have a strong work history. Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights and weekends required.

Experience, Education, and Training

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

Position requires frequent walking, head turning, bending, reaching and grasping; constant standing forward reaching and grasping. Candidate must be able to lift and carry 45lbs and push and pull minimally.

Working Environment

Primarily indoor working environment with controlled heating and cooling with varying exposure to chemical odors.

Licensing/Certification

Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
