Job summary

White Cap in Stockton, CA is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager to lead branch sales and operations, provide exceptional service to customers, and drive profitability.

This role requires 5+ years in construction supply or industrial distribution, knowledge of inventory control, and experience managing front-line teams; Oracle ERP experience preferred.

The position reports to the Branch Manager and requires occasional vehicle use and an MVR check; competitive benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction supply, building materials, or industrial distribution.
• Familiar with branch operations, inventory, order fulfillment, and warehouse processes.
• Experience leading front-line teams (warehouse, counter, or inside sales).
• Ability to resolve customer issues in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of ERP or order management systems (Oracle preferred).
• Understanding of sales margins and branch performance metrics.
• OSHA safety standards awareness; bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
• Forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule staff and analyze budgets and variances.
• Operate a company or personal vehicle; MVR check required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Assistant Branch Manager Responsibilities

• Support the talent acquisition, development, and retention of branch sales and operations associates.
• Manages the branch in the Branch Manager’s absence.
• Assists the manager in developing strategies to drive branch sales and profitability.
• Assists with the coordination of procurement, inventory control, shipping and receiving, warehousing, and sales in accordance with the policies, principles, and procedures established by the organization.
• Solves problems at the branch level.
• Investigates customer complaints involving matters such as damaged items, overcharges, and shipment/delivery delays.
• Makes necessary resource adjustments.
• Manages operational branch level problems, investigates inventory discrepancies, and makes adjustments as required.
• Serves customers and supports the counter and inside sales functions as necessary.Ensures all sales orders are billed correctly and in a timely manner.
• Schedules staff and analyzes budgets and variances.
• Generally has 5+ years of experience.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• This position requires operation of a company vehicle, or a personal vehicle and such operation is done consistently more than 20% of the average work week.
• If selected for this position, the company will run a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report.
• A requirement of this position is an acceptable MVR report.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in construction supply, building materials, or industrial distribution environments
• Working knowledge of branch operations, including inventory control, order fulfillment, and warehouse processes
• Experience supporting or leading front-line teams (warehouse, counter, or inside sales)
• Demonstrated ability to resolve customer issues and operational challenges in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with ERP or order management systems (Oracle preferred)
• Understanding of sales drivers, margins, and branch-level performance metrics
• Familiarity with safety standards and working in OSHA-regulated environments
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) and forklift experience preferred
