Job summary

Cherry Creek School District is seeking an assistant coach for the high school athletics program. You will instruct student athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and training to promote personal and team success, while fostering moral values and self-discipline.

You will report to the head coach and athletic director, manage program operations, schedule practices, ensure eligibility, and enforce CHSAA rules. CPR/AED certification and Colorado coaching certification are required.

Qualifications

• Assist with organization and development of the high school program.
• Basic knowledge of boys golf and program operations.
• Ability to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
• Pass CHSAA coaches test and register; complete concussion course.
• CPR & AED certification required.

Responsibilities

• Report to head coach and high school athletic director.
• Supervise all aspects of the level of the program with guidance.
• Provide program information on scores, schedules, and supplies.
• Schedule and attend practices; develop training plans as needed.
• Ensure athletes are cleared to participate.
• Comply with CCSD, Centennial League, and CHSAA rules.
• Monitor attendance, behavior, and academic status.
• Understand signs of concussion and remove affected players.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISOR:

Athletic Director or designee.

SUMMARY:

Instructs student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student athlete shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. 1. The assistant coach reports to the head coach and the high school athletic director.
2. 2. The assistant coach is responsible for, and supervises all aspects of their level of the program with direction of the head coach.
3. 3. Provides the head coach with information pertaining to his/her level of the program (scores, schedules, sites, discipline concerns, procedures and is directly responsible for inventory of supplies and equipment, etc.) Schedules and attends practice sessions, develops and implements individual/team training plans by the day, week, month, year as appropriate for their level in conjunction with the overall program goals/philosophy.
4. 4. Makes sure each athlete is cleared from the athletic office to participate.
5. 5. Complies with the rules and regulations as established by CCSD, Centennial League, and the Colorado High School Activities Association.
6. 6. Monitors athlete’s attendance/behavior/academic status.
7. 7. Ability to use approved first-aid and CPR skills.
8. 8. Understands the signs and symptoms of concussion and removes players that are exhibiting signs and symptoms of concussion.
9. 9. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 1. Assist with the organization and developing the high school program.
2. 2. Basic knowledge of boys golf.
3. 3. Possess or has the ability to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
4. 4. Successfully pass the CHSAA coaches test, acquire CHSSA coaching registration and complete a concussion course per State Legislation and CHSAA By-Laws.
5. 5. CPR & AED Certification required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. 1. Heavy physical lifting (50 lbs – items of various shapes and sizes).
