Job summary

Beaufort County School District River Ridge Academy in Bluffton, SC is seeking an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach. The role supports athletic programs, coordinates practice schedules, and helps ensure student-athletes develop skills, sportsmanship, and academic eligibility.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• Knowledge/background in basketball.
• Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
• Must be able to pass criminal background check.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize athletics as a supplemental program to support the academic mission of the school.
• Carry out the aims and objectives of the sports program as outlined by the Athletic Director and school district administration.
• Instruct athletes in fundamentals, sportsmanship, cooperation, strategy and conditioning.
• Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Assist in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
• Maintain attendance forms, insurance records, and related documents.
• Assist in safety oversight in the facility during activities.
• Establish performance criteria for academic eligibility in interscholastic competition.
• Enforce code of conduct and sportsmanship; establish penalties for breaches.
• Recommend purchase of equipment and supplies as appropriate.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, or Superintendent.
