Job summary

Corporation for Public Management seeks an Assistant Behavioral Specialist to implement positive behavioral support plans and help design programs. You will train staff, participate with the educational team, and support as needed under the supervision of agency behaviorists.

This part-time role requires a high school diploma, experience with individuals with special needs, strong communication, and ability to handle intense situations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience and direct contact with patients and individuals with special needs.
  • Understanding of characteristics and behaviors associated with disorders preferred.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle intense emotional situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site and/or virtual training to staff on the implementation of Behavior Plans after being trained by Supervising Behaviorists using a pyramidal model (train the trainer model).
  • Maintain training documentation with staff signatures, date, and subject/copy of training.
  • Maintain informed consents for all meds prescribed by a psychiatrist as well as restrictive and aversiveconsents yearly or as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with approved restrictive conditions quarterly, when visiting a home/program. Ifhome or program is out of compliance, immediate notification to the respective Behaviorist is required.
  • Data collection oversight. Review of data monthly in Therap, graph data monthly, setting up behaviorplans and target behaviors in Therap for staff to input data.
  • Attend designated individual/team meetings virtually or in-person as needed.
  • Attend psychiatric review meetings as needed.
  • Prepare and submit behavioral reports to include quarterly reports to behaviorist.
  • Prepare, maintain, and oversee Program Review Committee (PRC) documentation/process forsubmission to behaviorist.
  • Prepare, maintain, and oversee Human Rights Committee (HRC) documentation/process for submissionto behaviorist.
  • Prepare, maintain, and oversee Utilization Resource Review (URR) documentation/process forsubmission to behaviorist.
  • Review of client record and develop a synopsis of need areas and submit to Behaviorist.
  • Assist with agency licensing preparation and audit processes.
  • Psychiatric Review Board compliance liaison.
  • Added support for other complex cases.
  • Check ins and documentation of progress with individual who have behavior supports.
  • Liaison with the Medication provider.
  • Provide support on site at the group homes and day program.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Behaviorists.

SUMMARY:

The position of Assistant Behavioral Specialist will implement comprehensive positive behavioral support plans and effective behavior management strategies; deliver instructions; participate as a member of the educational team and help design and implement all components of the individual’s program. Assistant Behavioral Support Specialist will receive training and periodic supervisory oversight to ensure understanding of duty requirements by agency behaviorists.
