Job summary

The Morris School District is seeking an Assistant Behavior Specialist (Full Time) to conduct ABA trials, assist with individualized instruction, and implement IEP-driven programs across classroom, home, and other settings.

The role requires working with students with atypical development, following established plans, and collaborating with certificated staff. Transportation between sites is provided under district procedures.

Qualifications

  • Training in the theory and practice of behavioral interventions with students demonstrating atypical development.
  • Must meet NJ HQTA standards.
  • Must have at least 60 college credits or a Paraprofessional Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ABA trials and assist with individualized instruction
  • Assist with implementing behavioral intervention plans for students as required in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Implement individually designed programs in classroom, home, or other appropriate settings
  • Work effectively and flexibly with students demonstrating atypical development in social behaviors, attention, learning and pragmatics of language
  • Demonstrate use of acceptable procedures for intervening if students engage in inappropriate behaviors or physical challenges
  • Follow directions of the certificated staff member with responsibility for the behavior and/or educational plans
  • Interact with parents appropriately within the home setting and during staffings and conferences
  • Maintain accurate, current data on each student in the manner specified in the individualized plans or as directed by the teacher/behavior specialist
  • Provide regular feedback to supervising staff member on student progress
  • Participate regularly in the staffings established to review progress and modify plans
  • Assist with preparation of materials
  • Participate in training sessions specified by the Director of Pupil Services
  • Provide own transportation among sites with travel reimbursement in accordance with district procedures.
  • Perform such other tasks and assuming such other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services, Supervisor of Special Education and/or Building Administrator

Contract Terms of Employment

Ten months - 184days

Salary: In accordance with the established TEAM Salary Guide currently $36,000

Benefits: Full time employees are eligible for medical, prescription and dental benefits. Sick, personal and vacation day allotments are included.
