Albertsons Companies is hiring an Assistant Bakery Manager to support the Bakery Manager in overseeing daily operations and delivering exceptional customer service.

You will supervise associates, maintain product quality and safety, and drive sales while ensuring profitability and high standards across merchandising, inventory, and staffing. This role offers opportunities for training and career growth within a dynamic retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
• Assist customers with product selection, special orders, and bakery-related inquiries.
• Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
• Promote bakery items, seasonal offerings, and special promotions.
• Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Bakery Department.
• Ensure production levels support sales, customer demand, and product freshness.
• Maintain department appearance, cleanliness, and organization.
• Ensure proper product rotation and freshness standards are followed.
• Support implementation of merchandising plans and sales initiatives.
• Assist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.
• Provide daily direction and support to department team members.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and customer service excellence.
• Assist with scheduling and workload distribution as directed by the Bakery Manager.
• Serve as acting department leader in the Bakery Manager’s absence.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operating procedures.
• Maintain a safe work environment for customers and associates.
• Report and address safety hazards, equipment issues, and operational concerns promptly.
• Follow all OSHA and company safety requirements.

• Support implementation of merchandising plans and sales initiatives.

Product Quality & Food Safety

• Maintain high standards for product quality, consistency, and presentation.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Monitor product dating, storage conditions, and handling procedures.
• Ensure all bakery equipment is used safely and maintained properly.

Inventory & Financial Management

• Assist with ordering and inventory control processes.
• Monitor product movement and adjust ordering to minimize shrink.
• Support achievement of department sales, labor, and profitability goals.
• Verify pricing accuracy and promotional execution.

Leadership & Team Development

• Assist with training, coaching, and developing bakery associates.
• Provide daily direction and support to department team members.
• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and customer service excellence.
