Job summary

The Illinois Attorney General’s Office, Workers’ Compensation Bureau, seeks an Assistant Attorney General to investigate and handle a large caseload of workers’ compensation matters for state employees. You will defend claims before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission and draft motions, settlements, and pleadings on behalf of the State.

Qualifications

Licensed Illinois attorney required at time of application.
Experience defending state agencies in workers’ compensation matters preferred.

Responsibilities

Defend the State of Illinois in workers’ compensation claims brought by state employees.
Prosecute employers for failure to maintain workers’ compensation coverage as required by law.
Investigate and handle a large number of cases in the Workers’ Compensation Bureau.
Draft and respond to motions, manage settlements, and represent the State in hearings.
