Job summary

The Massachusetts Attorney General's Office invites applications for an Assistant Attorney General in the Insurance & Unemployment Fraud Unit. The role focuses on investigating and prosecuting complex insurance and unemployment fraud and related criminal activity, collaborating with state and federal agencies, and handling grand jury proceedings.

Location is Boston, MA with a hybrid model; requires Massachusetts bar admission and 4–6 years of prosecutorial experience.

Qualifications

• Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
• Minimum of four to six years of full-time legal experience, including significant experience as a prosecutor.
• Experience in white collar litigation, insurance/unemployment law or other complex criminal litigation is a plus.
• Ability to develop and oversee highly complex, challenging, and sensitive criminal investigations, present matters to the grand jury, and handle resulting prosecutions from arraignment through conclusion, including motions and trials.
• Ability to assist in researching complex legal issues impacting the work of the division.
• Ability and desire to handle multiple complex and challenging priority matters simultaneously.
• Outstanding research, writing, and advocacy skills.
• A high level of professionalism and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate complaints and investigation files from referral sources; formulate investigative strategies; analyze documents; interview witnesses; conduct document and witness‑intensive grand jury investigations; make charging, venue, and plea‑bargaining recommendations; and prosecute complex criminal cases in the District and Superior Court.
• Collaborate with law enforcement agencies and outside agencies, including DUA and IFB; participate in grand jury investigations across the Commonwealth; handle complex motion practice; appear before District and Superior Courts for motions, pleas, and trials.
