Job summary

The New York Attorney General's Environmental Protection Bureau in Albany seeks an experienced litigator to represent the state in environmental, public health, and energy matters in state and federal courts and administrative proceedings.

You will defend state environmental agencies and advance environmental justice, with opportunities in both defensive and affirmative litigation related to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities.

Qualifications

• At least two years of complex civil litigation practice required.
• Experience litigating in federal and/or state courts, including brief writing, document review, depositions, court appearances, and settlement negotiations
• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills with strong oral advocacy abilities
• Demonstrated commitment to public service and social/environmental justice
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments and priorities, and build coalitions with partner organizations
• Must be admitted to practice law in New York and a U.S. citizen
