Job summary

City and County of Denver is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to support the Sports Medicine Department, ensuring the health and safety of student‑athletes on assigned teams. The role includes inventory tracking, pre‑season medical clearance, and upkeep of the athletic training room.

You will maintain injury care and prevention programs, educate athletes and coaches, and collaborate with team physicians.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training.
  • NATABOC certification.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in athletic training.
  • AED/CPR Certified (Professional Rescuer).
  • Excellent written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain overall Sports Medicine Department including injury care, injury prevention, evaluation, and management.
  • Educate student-athletes and coaches on injury prevention and health topics.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and injury treatment tracking.
  • Communicate with team physicians (orthopedic and sports medicine).
  • Contribute new ideas about nutrition, cardiac health, mental wellness, and concussion research to the department.
  • Assist in day-to-day operations of the athletic training room.
  • Ensure proper coverage during practice and game participation, both home and away, for assigned teams.
  • Assist with insurance claim filing processes as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student-athlete injuries and illnesses.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain overall Sports Medicine Department including injury care, injury prevention, evaluation, and management.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training.
  • Certification through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the athletic training profession.
  • AED/CPR Certified (Professional Rescuer).
  • Excellent written communication skills with error-free writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Two years of experience working in Division I or Division II collegiate athletics.
  • Knowledge of SportsWare injury tracking system.
  • Experience maintaining files and documentation.
  • Experience with insurance claims and filing processes.
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
