St. Thomas Aquinas High School, a large Catholic high school located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida is seeking to hire a highly motivated, energetic, and compassionate full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer to join the sports medicine team for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. This individual will play a critical role in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and overall health and wellness of our student-athletes while working collaboratively with coaches, physicians, parents, and school administration. The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists in providing comprehensive sports medicine services to student-athletes and supports the daily operations of the athletic training program. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong clinical decision‑making abilities, and a passion for working with high school athletes.

The candidate will report to the Head Athletic Trainer and Athletic Director. St. Thomas Aquinas High School is one of the premier athletic programs in the nation, serving more than 900 student‑athletes across 23 sports. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prevent, evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries and illnesses.
• Provide immediate and emergency care during practices and competitions.
• Develop and implement rehabilitation and return‑to‑play programs.
• Coordinate physician referrals and follow‑up care.
• Monitor athlete recovery and communicate progress appropriately.
• Assist in maintaining accurate medical records and injury documentation.
• Support management of athletic training supplies, inventory, and equipment.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional athletic training facility.
• Assist with hydration, environmental monitoring, and athlete safety initiatives.
• Support implementation of emergency action plans and risk management procedures.
• Provide coverage for practices, games, tournaments, and special events.
• Assist with visiting team medical needs during hosted events.
• Travel with teams as assigned.
• Support game‑day operations and athletic department initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with student‑athletes, parents, coaches, physicians, and administrators.
• Maintain professional and compassionate communication during stressful situations.
• Assist coaches in identifying safe participation levels and return‑to‑play decisions.
• Educate athletes and families on injury prevention and wellness.
• Maintain compliance with FHSAA, BCAA, Archdiocese of Miami, state, and federal regulations.
• Assist in maintaining department policies and procedures.
• Support CPR, AED, and First Aid training initiatives for athletic department staff.
• Promote best practices related to athlete health and safety.

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
• BOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
• Florida Athletic Training License (or eligible for licensure).
• Current Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) Certification.
• Current CPR/AED Certification.
• NPI Number.
• Experience working in a high school, collegiate, or sports medicine setting preferred.
• Knowledge of electronic medical record systems preferred.
• Experience working with multiple sports simultaneously is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills a plus.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds, when necessary, with appropriate support or equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move quickly in emergency situations.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended athletic schedules.
• Must have a professional demeanor, including adherence to dress code.
