Job summary

The Assistant Athletic Trainer at Mines supports the Head Athletic Trainer in caring for student athletes across Colorado School of Mines. You will prevent, evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate injuries, document progress, and ensure compliance with licensure and CPR certifications.

Responsibilities include providing coverage for practices and events, performing physician-prescribed treatments, and coordinating with coaches.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or health-related field.
  • Three years in an athletic training setting preferred.
  • Current ATC Certification and BOC good standing.
  • Licensed in the State of Colorado (DORA) or eligible.
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • NATA member in good standing preferred.
  • Dry Needling certification or interest.

Responsibilities

  • Prevent, evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries.
  • Document all injuries and rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrate taping, bracing, and fitting of equipment.
  • Carry out physician-prescribed treatments and recommendations.
  • Maintain Colorado licensure, BOC, and CPR certifications.
  • Ensure athletes submit valid medical paperwork and exams.
  • Provide coverage of practices, contests, and events.
  • Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and travel with teams.
  • Obtain practice and game schedules and perform duties as assigned by Head Athletic Trainer.

## Assistant Athletic TrainerApplylocations: Coloradotime type: Full timeposted on: Posted 2 Days Agojob requisition id: JR109348**Engineering a world of possibilities**The Assistant Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and supervises the care of student athletes competing in the Department of Athletics at Colorado School of Mines. The assistant athletic trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation of both short- and long-term injuries.**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES*** The assistant athletic trainer will be able to demonstrate an ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, (including First Aid) and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of Certification.* The assistant athletic trainer will document all injuries and rehabilitation.* The assistant athletic trainer will demonstrate proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment.* The assistant athletic trainer will carry out all physician prescribed treatments and recommendations.* The assistant athletic trainer will maintain Colorado State Licensure, BOC, and CPR certification in accordance with those respective governing bodies.* The assistant athletic trainer will ensure all student athletes submit valid medical paperwork and physical exams prior to athletic participation.* The assistant athletic trainer will provide coverage of assigned athletic practices, contests and related events as assigned by the head athletics trainer.* The assistant athletic trainer must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. This includes travel to all away games and contests for men's soccer, softball, and jumps/throws/pole vaults for track.* The assistant athletic trainer will obtain a written copy of all practices and game schedules from assigned sports/ coaching staff.* The assistant athletic trainer must perform duties as assigned by the head athletic trainer and director of athletics to the best of his/her ability in a professional manner.**ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES*** Addends meetings when necessary.* Participates in designated staff functions including job related in-service training.* Follows all University, RMAC and NCAA policies and procedures.* Enforce Training Room rules.* Other duties as assigned to meet the objectives goals of the program and/or Mines.**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**Education and Experience:* Bachelor’s degree in athletic training or health-related field.* Three years in an athletic training setting preferred.
