Job Summary

This 12‑month tenure‑accruing position is split 60% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) and 40% extension (Florida Cooperative Extension Service). The incumbent will develop, lead and disseminate an environmentally sound, sustainable forage agronomy research and education program for Florida’s livestock industry.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative research on subtropical forage‑crop management, evaluating potential perennial grasses and legumes.
  • Perform basic and applied forage research including establishment, maintenance, grazing management and utilization of forages.
  • Integrate artificial intelligence tools into forage management solutions.
  • Collaborate with state, regional and county extension faculty and stakeholders, especially the Florida Cattlemen’s Association.
  • Participate in undergraduate and graduate education: chair or serve on graduate committees, supervise theses, dissertations and undergraduate research.
  • Secure contract and grant funding and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate (or foreign equivalent) in Agronomy or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to obtain extramural funding.
  • Commitment to the mission of the Land‑Grant system and UF core values.
  • Proof of teaching or educational experience is desirable.
  • Post‑doctoral experience is preferred; experience writing for a lay audience and working with clientele is highly valued.
