Position Information

Title: Assistant/Associate/Professor – Nursing (Doctorally prepared)

Primary Purpose and Essential Functions

Device: The University of the Pacific, School of Health Sciences is seeking to hire doctorly prepared registered nurses to join the ELMSN program and fill a tenure-track, position at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor rank (depending on qualifications and academic experience). Duties will include teaching ELMSN program content in both didactic and clinical settings, advising students, participation in simulation, curriculum development, interprofessional education, overseeing clinical adjuncts and placement of students in clinical agencies, managing required clinical documentation through tracking system, assisting with student and part‑time faculty orientation, and accreditation preparation activities. Nursing faculty are expected to attend program, curriculum, and other campus committee meetings. Other responsibilities may include contacting clinical agencies, orienting and evaluating part‑time faculty and interviewing prospective students. Effective teaching, interprofessional collaboration, research, creative activity, and service to the University are required for retention and promotion.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in Nursing (PhD, DNP, or EdD) with a Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered with the expectation of dissertation completion within two years of appointment.
  • Unencumbered California RN license.
  • California Board of Registered Nurses approval as a content expert or eligibility to obtain approval.
  • Minimum of two years of instructional experience teaching in an academic setting.
  • Clinical experience sufficient to meet the Board of Nursing and program needs.
  • Possess the health qualifications required to teach students in clinical settings.
  • Computer literacy and experience using learning technologies (e.g., Canvas or other Learning Management Systems)."
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or expertise in nursing education, including:
    • Teaching adults/older adults
    • Teaching methodology
    • Curriculum development
    • Assessment and evaluation
    • Willingness to acquire these skills within the first year of appointment
  • Evidence of scholarship or potential to build a record of scholarship needed for promotion, including:
    • Peer-reviewed publications
    • Original research
    • Presentations at local or national conferences
    • Grant writing or program development
    • Ongoing scholarly or creative activities
  • Demonstrated experience with simulation or innovative teaching modalities.
  • Professional membership and service in nursing or related organizations.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range

$110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year. Salary decisions will consider scope and responsibilities, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and market and organizational considerations.
