Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and, if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $315,000 - $403,000. Salary is negotiated annually. The Department of Pathology at the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body, and seeks an academic transfusion medicine physician to join the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine.
The successful candidates will serve as an Associate Director of Transfusion Medicine and the Blood Banks at UC San Diego Health’s La Jolla-Jacobs Medical Center, Hillcrest Medical Center, and the Center for Advanced Laboratory Medicine (CALM). These essential clinical services support the hemotherapy and human biologics manufacturing needs of UC San Diego Health’s strategic programs (advanced surgery and transplantation, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, women and infants care, Level I trauma service, and a regional burn center). The positions involve a broad range of clinical and administrative responsibilities, as well as teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. This academically rich environment offers exceptional opportunities for translational and clinical research collaboration with leading investigators at UC San Diego and its affiliates and several other nearby institutions.
The appropriate series and appointment as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor will be based on the candidate’s background and experience.
