Job summary

The University of Florida invites applications for an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Rheumatology. The successful candidate will provide inpatient and outpatient care, supervise Fellows, Residents and Medical Students, and participate in a weekly multidisciplinary clinic focusing on muscle disease or vasculitis.

We encourage translational research and offer mentorship within the Clinical Translational Science Institute, with substantial start-up packages.

Qualifications

Job Description

Responsibilities will include patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings as well as supervision/teaching of Rheumatology Fellows, Residents, and Medical Students. Along with General Rheumatology clinics, successful applicants will be expected to participate in a weekly half-day multidisciplinary clinic specializing in either muscle disease or vasculitis and to collaborate with a basic scientist in the capacity of "clinical mentor" for one or more research trainees in our NIH-funded T32 training program. An interest in translational research is highly desirable. We enjoy a collaborative relationship with Shands Hospital and pride ourselves in professional and cooperative interdisciplinary care. The UF Department of Medicine is a national leader in Cancer, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Kidney Disorders, and Pulmonology. In addition, UF Health Shands Hospital is ranked among the top-50 in eight specialties in the 2010 edition of America's Best Hospitals, published by U.S. News & World Report. Resources available for professional development at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center include leadership, education, and research tracks within a Clinical Translational Science Institute(CTSI), formal mentorship programs, and supported opportunities for teaching and research. These faculty positions will be based at our University teaching hospital with a potential option for part-time patient care duties at our immediately adjacent VA Hospital. Both hospitals serve a designated shortage area and/or a medically undeserved area/population. Substantial start-up packages are available for appropriate research applicants. Expected Salary

Starting salary is negotiable; commensurate with education and experience.
