About the Role

This position provides instructional support for courses in the School of Medicine for St. Louis, MO. Duties include development of syllabi, course materials, assessment of learning outcomes, instructional responsibilities, and other university services.

Responsibilities
  • Incorporate the university’s mission into program and course learning objectives, using flipped‑classroom teaching methods.
  • Maintain accountability to students and administration concerning quality in education.
  • Integrate current professional information into the course learning experience.
  • Administer courses timely, meet deadlines for course and student interactions, and exemplify professional conduct.
  • Prepare an updated syllabus prior to posting, ensuring all learning objectives, readings, tests, and grading are clearly stated.
  • Maintain collegiality by avoiding pejorative statements about the university, faculty, or staff.
  • Provide regular office hours.
  • Develop exams with clear instructional value, accurately measured objectives that reflect Bloom’s Taxonomy.
  • Establish and maintain a learning‑conducive classroom atmosphere.
  • Deliver online instruction competently.
  • Treat colleagues, staff, and students professionally.
  • Ensure required course text or published literature is used, unless exempted.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and university ceremonies.
  • Report absences or inability to fulfill responsibilities to the MSMS Program Coordinator.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of damage to university property or other problems affecting the institution.
  • Read, understand, and follow all Faculty Handbook policies.
  • Perform other instructional duties as assigned by the program coordinator or the Dean.
Competencies

Individuals must be dependable, possess strong interpersonal and communication/organization skills, and be able to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Doctorate in an appropriate field and five years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Computer Skills: General knowledge of computers, including word processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Required as appropriate to the degree possessed.
