Job summary

University of California - Los Angeles Health is seeking an Assistant Animal Technician (Cage Wash) to support the cage wash areas on campus, performing cage scrapping, washing, and packing tasks under close supervision. The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work with heavy cage racks, communicate in English, and follow SOPs and training checklists.

Weekend/holiday rotations may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and push 200-300-pound cage racks of animals.
• Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing, accurately and timely.
• Basic computer knowledge and skills to complete online training sessions.
• Knowledge of and ability to follow SOPs, Working Instructions, Forms and Training Checklists for cage wash area.
• Ability to participate in weekend/Holiday work rotations and occasional overtime duties.

Responsibilities

• Scrap cages, wash cages and accessories, and pack clean items.
• Support cage wash areas on campus under close supervision.

Under close supervision, the Assistant Animal Technician
(Cage Wash) performs tasks to support the cage wash areas on campus, including
but not limited to cage scrapping, cage and accessories washing, and packing.

Salary Range: $26.69 - 35.19 Hourly

Qualifications

Required:

• Ability
  to lift 50 pounds and to push 200-300-pound cage racks of animals.
• Ability
  to communicate in English, verbally and in writing, accurately and timely
• Basic
  computer knowledge and skills to complete online training sessions
• Knowledge
  of and ability to accurately follow all SOPs, Working Instructions, Forms,
  Training Checklists associated with the cage wash area
• Ability
  to participate in weekend/Holiday work rotations and occasional overtime
  duties

Preferred (training will be provided):

• Working
  knowledge of cage wash equipment included but not limited to rack and
  tunnel washers, bedding dispenses, bedding vacuums, water filling
  stations, and sterilizers
• Knowledge
  of safety practices in the cage wash are including but not limited to
  ergonomics, thermal and allergy risks.
• Knowledge
  of all the cage wash areas and the equipment in each of them, sufficient
  to organize, sort and process soiled items, and pack clean equipment in an
  efficient and safe manner.
• Knowledge
  of cleaning and sanitizing materials and techniques sufficient to maintain
  a healthful environment.
• Ability
  to maintain records following proper documentation practices
