Job summary

Sonoma Post Acute is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the DON in directing the nursing staff across 24/7 operations. The role involves planning, supervising, and implementing nursing services, with emphasis on patient safety and regulatory compliance.

The ADON will participate in staff recruitment, training, performance appraisals, and ongoing in-service education while maintaining confidentiality and promoting resident rights.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred and RN license; maintain state licensure and ongoing education.
• 3–5 years of nurse management experience in long-term care is desirable.
• Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain required continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Assist DON in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff.
• Oversee clinical operations, daily rounds and resident condition monitoring.
• Ensure resident safety and uphold resident rights; liaise with families and physicians.
• Attend staff meetings and provide reports to DON; assist with policy implementation.

General PurposeDefine the rolls and responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). Assists the Director of Nursing in directing activities of licensed and non-licensed personnel whom provide health care and nursing services to residents on a 24-hour, 7day per week basis.Essential DutiesAssists the DON in planning, developing and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.Assists in the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.Works with the DON to recruit, hire and train nursing staff.Assists DON with employee appraisals, and resolving problems including disciplinary action.Acts as the back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff.May be required to provide direct resident care as needed.Oversees clinical operations, including making daily rounds and monitoring resident conditions.Responsible for ensuring resident safety, and ensuring residents are treated with the utmost respect.Liaison between the residents, family members and the physicians.Attends staff meetings and conducts staff meeting if the DON is unavailable.Provides reports and recommendations to the DON concerning the operation of nursing servicesAssists the DON in the design, implementation and evaluation of nursing systems that ensure consistent delivery of care and maintains and promotes resident rights.Assists DON with conducting ongoing in-services for the nursing staff Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the position regarding residents and employees.Must keep abreast of regulatory changes and communicate changes appropriately.Supervisory RequirementsAssists with the overall supervision and management of the nursing staff.QualificationEducation and/or ExperienceMinimum requirements to perform this position include graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain all required continuing education/licensing requirements.3-5 years of nurse management, preferably in a long term care facility.Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.Mathematical SkillsAbility to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsTo preform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the Microsoft Suite products. Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred. Must maintain all required continuing education/licensing.
