Job summary

Eaton Syalon is partnering with an investor-backed manufacturing organisation in Derbyshire to recruit an Assistant Accountant. The role offers full study support, exposure to financial accounting, reporting, accounts receivable, and month-end processes.

One day working from home after 3 months, 8am-5pm, Monday-Thursday with a Friday finish. A great opportunity to develop toward a qualified accounting career within a high-growth business.

Qualifications

• AAT studying or qualified or someone in the early stages of CIMA/ACCA studies
• Equipped with previous finance or accounts experience
• Comfortable working with Excel and finance systems
• Organised with strong attention to detail
• Proactive, eager to learn, and keen to develop professionally
• Looking for a long-term opportunity with progression into a qualified accounting role

Responsibilities

• Support month-end close processes including reconciliations
• Prepare and post journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation)
• Produce and issue invoices and credit notes
• Maintain sales ledger and customer accounts accuracy
• Provide weekly debtor cash updates and monitor advances
• Assist with intercompany recharges and reconciliations
• Participate in year-end activities and audit responses
• Assist with cost centre reviews and monthly reporting packs
• Support VAT and national statistics reporting
• Assist with trial balance maintenance and supporting schedules
• Prepare monthly reports (Other Debtors, GRNI, cost centre packs)
• Produce daily operational reports (Hours vs Budget)
• Support month-end close including reconciliations and reporting

Job description

• Supporting the preparation of VAT returns and national statistics reporting
• Assisting with maintaining the trial balance and updating supporting schedules
• Preparing and posting journals including accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset depreciation
• Producing and issuing sales invoices and credit notes
• Maintaining the sales ledger and ensuring customer account accuracy
• Providing weekly debtor cash updates and monitoring customer advances
• Supporting month-end close processes including reconciliations and reporting
• Preparing monthly reports including Other Debtors, GRNI, and cost centre review packs
• Assisting with cost centre reviews through analysis preparation and participation in review meetings
• Producing daily operational reports such as Hours vs Budget
• Processing and reconciling intercompany recharges on a monthly basis
• Ensuring intercompany balances are accurately recorded and fully supported
• Assisting with year-end activities and responding to audit

About You
