Job Overview

Assignment Ready Counselor (ARC) provides short‑term, surge, and on‑demand counseling coverage on military installations. The Summer ARC role covers assignments from May15 to September15, coinciding with the school summer break. Counselors deliver a full breadth of adult or child and youth behavioral (CYB) services, including non‑medical counseling, wellness presentations, and consultation with parents, school personnel, and installation command.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide non‑medical, solution‑focused counseling directly to adults, children, and youth of service members.
• Conduct assessments, brief counseling, consultations, action planning, referrals, and follow‑up.
• Support staff and personnel in DoDEA schools, community schools, youth programs, and summer camps; provide parent training and guidance.
• Deliver health and wellness presentations and participate in health fairs and other base/installation activities.
• Enter counselor activity data daily via smartphone or web application, ensuring accurate reporting and confidentiality.
• Build rapport quickly with service members, families, students, parents, and co‑workers; adapt to new working conditions and locations.
• Respond promptly to emergent situations at any base location, including traversing short or long distances and working in varied weather or terrain.
• Participate in regular in‑services, quality‑improvement committees, and supervision (individual and group) with Regional Supervisors or Directors.
• Respond to critical incidents and special requests as directed by the POC and approved by the OSD program manager.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree from an accredited graduate program in mental health, social work, or a related field.
• Independent state licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
• Advanced knowledge of brief therapy and solution‑focused counseling methods.
• U.S. citizenship and fluent in English.
• Ability to work full time, including weekends, for periods ranging from a weekend to two weeks.
• Familiarity with military culture and experience working with military families is desired.
• For CYB positions, meet Magellan MFLC CYB criteria for experience with children and youth and specialty in child and adolescent development/psychology.
• Must comply with site‑specific immunization or vaccination requirements and provide records as needed.

Assignment Details

• Grade: MFLC ARC.
• Covered assignments include full‑time coverage, on‑demand, and surge roles on military bases and installations.
• Role may involve travel between facilities and participation in community outreach events.
